This had to happen - sooner or later. Joshua reports about the acquisition in the del.icio.us blog. It was very clear that somebody will acquire del.icio.us sometime pretty soon - who will that somebody be was the question.
Yahoo has done some real good acquisitions in the past year - Flickr, Konfabulator and now del.icio.us. It is very evident that their vision of web is different from the other big players - Google and Microsoft. It seems that they ‘get’ social software more than the other 2. I am wondering what is that Google comes up with next! Of course, Microsoft has been traditionally playing the ‘catching up’ game.
What will be interesting is - how does Yahoo change the look-n-feel of the website. As long as they keep the impact similar to the impact at flickr, the service will be fine. Anything more might just take away the user experience.
