Before I started Tekriti - I always used to ask myself - what will it take to start a company? Strong business plan? Yes, of course! - would have been my answer. But, my opinion has changed a lot in the last few months. Strong business plan is a must - but not for starting a business - it is required for a business to take-off. And, yes, there is a big difference. There are a lot of people who start business but there are a very few who are able to take it to the next level.
Talking about taking the business to the next level - that is what Tekriti have been focusing on for last 1 month now. It’s been almost 6 months now since we first had our company on paper and have gotten our venture to a stage where we can sit and look more comfortably at the path we are walking and also do some reality check. After all, running a company simply doesn’t mean creating more products or adding another client - there is a lot more to it. And, coming to the title of this post, there are more than a couple of people who are helping us in that. But someone who has shown a tremendous faith in us and who we immensely respect is Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala. And, of course, there is Marc Canter - without whom Tekriti wouldn’t have been what it is now.
So, to all those who are in the similar boat as us and to all other budding entrepreneurs, if you thought that mentors are not that important - you better analyse the situation again! Having said that - I would like to add that mentors are meant to be facilitators only. If your business depends largely on your mentor - however rude it may seem, I must say that you are not suited to be an entrepreneur.
